Tigers 2008 Presentation Night a great successNorthern Districts Presentation Night held last Saturday (18 October) was a big one as usual, with revellers staying at the Bowlo until 12:45, then off to Palm Court Hotel for some further socialising. Matt Rush (14 votes) won the 1st Best & Fairest in an exciting count from Pat Lindsay (13) and Lewis Wilson (12). Others to poll well were Mark O'Rourke, Jason Lucas, Nick Crean, Tim Bignell and Peter Burton. In Reserve Grade, playing Coach Matt Warth won the B&F from Grant Plecas. The trophy that everyone wants to win (Pat Burton Memorial Most Courageous Award) was won by our valiant 1st Grade Captain Mark (Funky) O'Rourke, whilst the Lee Veech Most Dedicated Person Award was presented to fantastic Club servant Bruno Pieri. The coveted Best Clubperson award was deservedly given to that man Kevin O'Connor, who also shared it with Ange Webster in 2007. The time-honoured Unit Award was taken out by hot favourite Nick Crean, who also received a further award for his brilliant dancing! Every 10 years, the Club allocates a Lifetime Achievement Award for Unit Acts and this was duly presented to Andrew (Chook) Ozadczuk ! Whilst the margin appears large, Norths were competitive were all but the 3rd Quarter when Bomaderry, with the aid of the wind and a few 50m penalties, scored 7 goals, effectively ending the contest. Travis Lothian (3 goals), Trent Avery, Shawn Fitzpatrick and Pat Lindsay were among the better players; whilst Lewis Wilson, Nick crean and Josh McLarnen put in their usual 100 minute efforts. Already having 2 star players (Jason de Bruin and Matt Rush) not available, our cause was not helped by injuries to Todd McHardy and Funky; and young Tim Bignell was still crook, after suffering hypothermia the previous week.
